Does any one have any suggestions on how to make easy/ healthy ice lollies with 4/5 year old children. I'm doing a PGCE course and the theme for this term is Holidays. HELP!

Orange juice and water in a plastic cup with a large strawberry and obviously stick.
Put in freezer then viola one very fruity lolly

Brilliant that sounds v.easy to make. Thank you!

For a creamy one blend some fruit - mango/strawberry/melon, add natural yoghurt and honey to sweeten.

You can even be flash and freeze them in layers so you get a stripy lolly.

where can you get the sticks from? i take it you put the stick into the strawberry to get it to stay in place?

I use smoothies sometimes too
Make sure you tap them down well or you get air bubbles that can make them unstable!

frozen summer fruits, ripe banana and fresh orange juice - gorgeous!! And it tastes quite creamy due to the banana but is mega healthy

forgot to say, it all obviously needs to be whizzed in a blender!!

well i tried one last night in a mug but i can't get it out. was i meant to cover the mug in cling film before i put the juice in?

most supermarkets/ikea/bargain stoers sell lolly moulds for a couple of pounds.

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2008 18:21

we put frozen fruit in the mould (eg berries) then top up with fruit juice

ChasingSquirrels · 09/05/2008 18:22

def cheap lolly moulds - which come with sticks.
we just use yoghurt - quick and easy.

pinkyminky · 09/05/2008 18:22

Milk and pureed fruit is nice. The pound shop near us sells lolly moulds

tassisssss · 09/05/2008 18:28

I have the plastic lolly moulds which have sippy bits in the holders...think lakeland do them though mine, i think, were from Sainsburies.

We're very unimaginative and make them with fruit juice.

nappyaddict · 10/05/2008 09:38

am i thinking if the moulds come with sticks you have to keep reusing them cos otherwise you'd run out.

ChasingSquirrels · 10/05/2008 09:39

plastic sticks - with a lid that holds it in place. Yes you reuse the whole thing. You could buy wooden sticks (craft ones) and just throw away I guess.

Purred mangoes and pineapples or passionfruit?

mousymouse · 09/01/2011 14:15

I usually thicken the juice with cornflour so that is not so messy when the kids eat the ice lollies (it doesn*t drip as much this way)

Mummy2Bookie · 09/01/2011 14:21

mousymouse thanks for that tip.
Plain orange juice is good frozen too.
