Will I have to bin this half-prepped soup?

I was going to make broth today. I put some lentils, peas, barley, etc on to soak last night and this morning I cooked the meat (cheap cut of pork) in some stock with chopped onions.

Then I had to unexpectedly come round to my mum's to wait in for a heating engineer while she's at work. The engineer still hasn't fucking turned up so I'm still here.

My meat has been sat, cooked, still in the stock/onions since lunchtime and my lentils, etc are still sat in a covered dish of water.

Will they keep until tomorrow if I fridge them all? Will they need to be drained and put in fresh water? Or is it a case of bin the lot?

They'll be fine. The most volatile ingredient you've got there is the pork and even that's not going to turn toxic in the space of a day.... certainly not in winter. Refresh the water on your pulses and they should be OK.

Thanks Cogito :)

I think I came across as a little bit odd when I grumped to British Gas at the end of my telephone complaint: "... and you've ruined my soup!"

They've probably heard worse... :)
