We have just bought about 10 kg of Shipton Mill flour. Now dp says he doesn't think it is suitable for the breadmaker. Anyone know?

its lovely breadmaker flour-esp the 3 malt one.
Delia recommends it!
Assuming not self raising etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ledodgyherring · 28/04/2006 21:39

I wouldn't know, breadmaker? whats one of those? I knead with my hands >>>>Ledodgy shakes head in a call yourself a lentil weaver dissapproving way

Ledodgy, don't you start! I've been wrist slapped for not being lentilly enough already this week...

We have tried the 3 malt one miggy - this is the ordinary wholemeal type. Dp reckons it is not going to work :(

Is it too heavy? Mix it with white and experiment until you get something that works - try 50-50 first and then go up. Granary is also "brown" rather than wholemeal so you could mix that in.

shipton mill... yumGrin

mix it with white (2/3 to 1\3 granary) to make it light enough for bread. 100% wholemeal will be too heavy IMHO.

dizzydo · 29/04/2006 11:40

why dont you just make one and see.

I dont usually buy bread machine flour I just buy "strong wholemeal, white etc." and they all seem to work in my Panasonic. I think it will be fine myself.

This all sounds encouraging, will put on a loaf later...

The reason we didn't want to just try it, was that we could probably return it if unopened.
