Picky toddler needs packed lunch ideas!

My 2.5 year old will be starting with a new childminder in a month's time and she likes kids to bring a packed lunch with them. Cue immediate panic from me, because while DS will snack happily on raisins, occasional bits of fruit, yogurt and plain bread and butter when it comes to some other lunch box staples like sandwiches, veg sticks, cheese, any type of cold meat he is not a fan.

I don't like the idea of sending him off with a paltry spread but don't relish throwing away a lot of uneaten lunches either. What are some good ideas for sandwich fillers for picky kids? Tell me there's something healthier out there than just butter and strawberry jam!!!

Thanks Thanks

Does he like pasta? my DD is very fussy but she loves pasta with veggies. Would he eat that.
Or how about nan breads with melted cheese or cheese spread (which ever he prefers) then cut it in to strips.

Im just going off what I give my DD and DS

My dd age 3 is not a sandwich eater but if she needs a packed lunch, I do 'picky bits' of things like hummus and breadsticks, or mini tubs of Philly cheese, babybels, little pots of fruit like grapes, mini boxes of raisins, yoghurt etc.

If your DS will eat sandwiches, what about peanut butter, or cheese spread?

Pasta is a good option - he's a bit funny about eating cold / room temp stuff, which is a bit strange of him! But maybe if I put a little container of pasta, the childminder would microwave it for him.

Going to experiment with cheese spread / peanut butter / houmous and pitta / wraps etc. and see if i can come up with something he'll actually eat. He's also not a big fan of cheese lol I don't know where he gets it, he ate absolutely everything when he was younger but terrible twos have kicked in and now he turns his nose up at stuff he used to love...

while you have some time before he starts I would try things now while your there and you can always try a second thing if the first fails

good luck
