What do you give friends when they pop round at lunchtime?

Thinking mainly simple stuff I can keep on standby in the cupboard/freezer, but sometimes I can nip out to the shops so low-effort fresh stuff is possible too.

I usually do a carton of fresh soup and some nice crusty bread - the other day I popped out to a local deli and got quiche, salads etc which was ok but something my toddler & baby can eat too is ideal.

I would do spaghetti with pesto and a salad, or tomato filo tart with salad - both quick and easy.

Fresh soup, crusty bread, and then a light bacon and advocado salad.

Chocolate shot and something to drink either water, or wine depending on what is appropriate.

pasta and a salad usually, maybe salmon if I feel like it or ood ham... but only if warned, people who 'drop in' though welcome for company, get directions to the nearest pub. What am I? A hostelry?

There's a great baked eggs with smoked salmon recipe of Sophie Grigson's that I do for brunch/lunch (if I am warned in advance! Wink) My 11month old loves it.
