I'm thinking abot making a self saucing lemon pud, can it be made an hour or so before it needs to in the oven...or will it turn out like a pancake?

I think once u add the liquid (egg milk or whatever) it activates the raising agents. Could u not just measure out the ingredients and then mix when needed?

Wheresmy is right. Once its mixed it will go flat if its not cooked right away.

I measure out everything and leave in a bowl. Then once I add eggs I bake. Saves time after a meal but it means I don't cream butter and sugar. Just the all in one method of mixing when eggs go in. It comes out fine but not as risen as when I cream.

Thanks....may have to rethink my pudding.

i cream butter and sugar, and weigh out dry ingredients separately
it's then 5 minutes tops to get it into the oven

I like sad cakes more than I like creaming, this all in one method, can I just stick everything in the food processor and just whizz it up ?

A crumble can be made in advance, or a trifle, tart, tirimasu.

x posted - if you want a proper pudding that can sit around before being put in the oven then Nigella's chocolate babycakes are good.
