Can anyone help me (and my DCs) like fish?!

Just that really!

I do like fish if it's cooked nicely, say in a restaurant, although I'd rarely choose fish over meat.

But I hate preparing and cooking it, and the DCs haven't really got used to it as we never have it at home, apart from canned tuna and, erm, fish fingers.

Any suggestions for simple child friendly (I guess what I mean is not too 'fishy') recipes please? :)

Cod or Haddock wrapped in bacon its really nice and very simple makes the fish seem more meaty Smile

Salmon topped with pesto is easy and because of the strong taste of the pesto isn't too 'fishy' - all you need to do is put about 2-3tsps of pesto on top of each salmon fillet, squeeze some lemon over, put each one in an individual foil parcel (where you fold the foil over at the top keeping the steam in) and bake at 180 for 20ish mins.

My kids love fish pie (you can buy ready chopped fish pie mix if you want to reduce your handling of the fish) nice creamy parsley sauce topped with cheesy mash.
Tuna pasta bake
Salmon fish cakes
White fish in a tomato bake

jamie has a nice fish curry recipe. coat fish in korma paste, gently fry both sides for a bit, add coconut milk and some chopped spring onions and cook for about 15 mins i think. recipe was using colee or other white fish, though i'm going to try with fish pie mix

I make a crust by mixing together breadcrumbs, sundried tomatoes, mixed herbs, salt, pepper and a little olive oil in a bowl. Then mound on top of salmon or haddock fillets and bake 10-15min or till fish is cooked through.

Also DS loves haddock/plaice mcnuggets - slice a fillet into bite-size chunks, dredge first in egg, then in flour seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne. Then shallow fry a couple of mins, drain on kitchen paper and spritz with lemon. Mayo, ketchup or tartare sauce optional!
