Lunch box help please!

DS has come home yet again having barely eaten his packed lunch Confused. For some reason I am irrationally fuming about it today. The trouble is he only seems to like tuna or chicken sandwiches (and is now saying they take too long to eat). I have suggested pasta/rice salads as an alternative or pitta breads wraps but he's a fussy bugger at times. Any other suggestions please? Last chance tomorrow or he will be having school lunch every day (not convinced he'll eat that either Hmm). The most frustrating thing is that at home he's always "starving" and will eat most of the food I serve him.

There are lots of us on MN whose sons come home from school with their packed lunch still in their bags. Mine often eats his when he gets home!

He gets such a short lunch break - 30 minutes maximum - and prefers to spend it running round with his friends or kicking a ball about.

Chicken wraps are popular in our house at the moment.

30 mins isn't long is it? Mine gets just short of an hour and I know he wants to play but he has to eat something! I worry about it most when he's at after school club because he doesn't always eat there either so it's a long day. Maybe I should chill out a bit - I'm probably making the situation worse!

If you're fuming, it's probably because you spent time and effort making it for him.

Maybe chucking some tuna between two slices of bread isn't such a bad idea. There's a lot worse than a tuna or chicken sandwich. You could cut them up small in a sandwich bag so he can eat them 'on the go'. My DS seems to find the process of opening a box all too much, sometimes. Grin

Maybe cutting it up very small is the key. I will see what happens tomorrow. Mind you, he got such a telling off tonight he'll probably eat anything I give him Smile

I'm assuming that the deletions are for advertising and not because a poster ran amok with the harsh language of bagels and fruit salads.

My ds wants to play at lunch, so sometimes doesn't have time to eat....he'll sit down with his lunch box when he gets home from school. He has a really good breakfast so I am trying to relax about the situation. My dcs get leftovers for lunch they wouldn't be too fond of sandwiches.
