Agree with the hairy dieters, there are some great recipes in there.

the hairy dieters ( bikers ) is great!! the sweet n sour is better than a takeaway! but I did try the lasagne made with leeks instead of pasta sheets and hubby was not impressed Envy he said the Italians had been making lasagne for years with pasta so why change it now?! Grin Grin I had yo agree it was bloody awful but I think I didn't cook the leek sheets long enough so they were a bit crispy. hope u have more luck but dont think it will be repeated in my house Grin x

I have just spent the evening meal planning from www.skinnytaste.com. Just made the roast chickpeas to replace crisps and i am making slow chicken caccitori (sp?) tomorrow. Done both beforw and both are delish.

Some of the recipes have low fat products you cant get in the uk but even using normal cheese etc they are pretty low fat anyway.

It's actually pretty easy to adjust regular recipes.
-Use a fraction of the amount of any fat, oil or butter stipulated
-Swap full-fat butter, milk or cheese for low-fat equivalents.

-Increase the quantity of vegetables and grains in the dish and reduce the amount of meat
-Swap red meat for chicken, fish or replace with pulses
-Grill, poach or bake rather than fry.

Isn't the low fat theory being changed now? I use olive oil to cook (no spray on cans) and I do not eat any low fat manuf. foods 'cos IME they bung in a load of sweeteners and muck to make up for the lack of good honest fat that in moderation is not bad for you.
I don't eat pork or pork products though. I've lost 3 stone and am maintaining on the Paul Mckenna WOE.

The hairy Dieter book is good (even DH looked and said he would eat the food. Like I he'd get a choice Grin). And it is £4.99 in the book people here.

@ppeat your right that people are veering away from low fat. After all it is very good for you! However, I do think that a lot of recipe books have very high fat recipes, and as long as you aren't resorting to low fat products (I agree, they are full of fructose which is BAD NEWS) and just having a meal which naturally has less fat in it now and again that is no bad thing. The skinnytaste.com website is actually quite good at promoting that.

Grin ethb Also the recipes in most books and on the T.V. are full of SUGAR and SALT which is causing so much ill health. I think it's all the sweeteners like aspartame, saccharine and the corn syrup rather than fructose (which is only fruit sugar and raises yr. BSL more slowly than normal sugar) which are in so many products and are not good for you.
