Hi my dd is 9 and has asd. her food range is quite limited and she does suffer a great deal from trapped wind. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts for meals i could try. At th eminute she usually has toast for breakfast, ham, cheese bread and butter or crackers for lunch and then pasta or some sort of homemade pie, gammon and chips for dinner. These are her more favourite meals. Any help would be appreciated!

I think all you an do is dish up what she should be eating and if she eats it she eats if she does nt then she does'nt a little like you would for a child weaning, maybe slowly and consistently introduce new things. you just can't force them to eat.. so give her fruit and veg and don't pressure her to eat it. She may try it she may not. If her weight is an issue then smaller portions and more exercise other than that you can't and shouldn't force your dd to have the perfect diet. Sounds to me like you are doing all the best things you can for your dd.

Ideas to try:

  1. Why don't you take her to the supermarket, walk around the aisles with her then ask her what she wants- something healthy might take her fancy?
  1. Would she like being taken to a restaurant?
