As many as you like, but i only ever fit two in my dish.

Mistymoo · 13/04/2006 17:00

Same as Hattie - whatever you can manage with your ingredients and dish

I've started doing one at the bottom that hangs out the edges of the dish, then when you've finished layering you pick up the pieces and wrap them over the top like a parcel (Jamie Oliver). It keeps the inside very moist.
As for layers I do at least 3.

Oblomov · 13/04/2006 17:15

As many as you can fit in !!

Aero · 13/04/2006 17:17

Usually two before I run out of mixture/sauce.

Oblomov · 13/04/2006 17:24

Serioualy, I meant that the more layers of lasagne you can fit in, with as thin layers as possible, of mince and cheese sauce in between, the better and more 'substantial' your lasagne will be.

dolally · 13/04/2006 21:12

can i hijack this thread and ask ... how much cheese sauce and how thick? Say in relation to the meat sauce?

pupuce · 13/04/2006 21:13

Just for the top the cheese sauce... and it will run down the sides.

Bozza · 13/04/2006 21:15

I do:
mince mixture
lasagne
cheese sauce
mince
lasagne
cheese sauce
grated cheese.

All I can ever fit in.

dolally · 13/04/2006 21:19

god i love lasagna, and so do the kids but can NEVER get the quantities right. Its usually too dry. Mouth watering reading this thread!

pupuce · 13/04/2006 21:21

How do you make the mince?
Mine is neevr too dry....

cataloguequeen · 13/04/2006 21:21

well I usually cover the meat layer with a thinish topping of sauce between each layer of lasange making sure there enough to totally cover the top then sprinkle the cheese! Yum!Smile

dolally · 13/04/2006 21:26

my mince is usually about the same as I would do for a spag bol. Not watery but not solid. OKAY - next question .. how long do you guys bake it for? using precooked lasagne? at what temp? maybe that's where I'm going wrong!!

pupuce · 13/04/2006 21:27

30 mins at 180

cupcakes · 13/04/2006 21:34

I've started to simmer the lasagne before putting in dish - even with the lasagne that's supposed to be used from dry. It's much, much better.

dolally · 13/04/2006 21:34

gaaad!!

Usually leave mine in for at least an hour!!

Right, going to try it all again tomorrow

Thanks.

pupuce · 13/04/2006 21:36

1 hour is deffo too long... let us know how you get on Smile
