Cooking for 7 this year with a fairly small oven and I'm wondering what bits and bobs I can make in advance for the dinner.
Can anyone advise please?

thank you

Ooh lots! Bread sauce, gravy, red cabbage for starters. . .

All freeze brilliantly btw

Thanks. Maybe being dull but have you got a good gravy recipe I could make in advance? I didn't think I could do that because of using the turkey juices!
:)

Stuffing.

Jamie Oliver's get-ahead gravy recipe is absolutely delicious. (And the star anise makes all the difference) Defrost, reheat and then add some turkey juices to it on the day itself.

in addition to Annie's suggestions.... stuffing balls; pigs in blankets (or I like rounds of sausage meat wrapped with bacon); cranberry sauce if you're making your own. Either winter root mash or delia's parmesan parsnipt; mashed potato. I think you can freeze par-boiled potatoes for roasting too but given that I make most stuff ahead, I just do the roasties on the day

Spiced red cabbage freezes really well.

Like the look of the winter root mash lilolil linked to there. I'm doing Celeriac and parsnip bake this year which is similar. Not done it before but wanted to try celeriac with Christmas dinner for a change. Says it's freezable.

I'm boiling my potatoes the day before, chilling them and then putting them straight into the hot fat on Christmas Day, will also be cooking the turkey crown on Christmas Eve and the ham.

Prep all veg, cook ham on Xmas Eve. Stuffing, sausage stuffing (if you cook it), stuff turkey. Deserts a day or two before. Brandy butter, whip cream.
