What does your 4-year-old eat/drink?

Do they have snacks still? What about bedtime milk...? My dd's appetite seems to have diminished a fair bit lately (but she's otherwise well). Curious to see if it's an age thing... Ta, Dinny

My dd (5 in May) gave up drinking milk at about 2. She has as many snacks as she can get away with, which can vary from all kinds of things such as rice cakes, fresh and dried fruit, biscuits or chocolate (if she can get on my good side!) or bagels and peanut butter, as well as her 3 meals a day. Some days she can wolf down so much food it leaves me gobsmacked but I guess she makes up for it on other days when she just grazes (she is tall and thin).

am just so amazed my dd has decided she doesn't want bedtime milk any more, she just has a glass of water now. never thought I'd see that day! plus she is never hungry when finishing pre-school (like I'd have been!)

how tall is your dd, Moonshine?

dd was 4 in jan, she still has milk in the morning and bedtime. i think its normal for their appetite to fluctuate. get her to clench her fist for you, thats how big her stomach is. will give you an idea how much she can eat before saying she's full. my dd has snacks, fruit usually. some days she'll eats lots, some days hardly anything. with kids, you need to take into account what they eat over a whole week rather than one particular day

Not sure how tall exactly but is almost always the tallest amongst her age-group, although I think I have cursed her by passing on my long body/short legs genes, poor love.

I was really pleased when she gave up her milk and just drank water - even now she takes one of those lidded toddler cups of water to bed every night.

We worry so much about what they eat but I think kids are so much better at regulating their food intake over time, unlike a lot of us adults!

actually, dd isn't four yet (May). she's tall for her age and has always had a big appetite really (that's why am surprised). always been 91st centile weight and off chart for height. maybe her growing is slowing down for a bit...
