my pan of soup is off in the bin....unless anything can be done to salvage it?

When doing the shop the other day i asked DH if we had veg stock in for a soup - he said yep.
he went and checked.
he came back and said yep and it was fine ( i knew it had been there for a while!)

i just made a whole pan of soup, used the stock and it was i think well past its best.
the smell of it is making me

ive just smelled the stock powder and im sure its off.

there is no salvaging this one is there? off stock must equal soup in the bin i fear...

If it smells bad then don't eat it

The nose test is pretty infallible IMO

No I wouldn't eat it if it smells off, although I have never checked date on stock and I have no idea how old some of it is.

dh is a twat.

its beans on toast for me then. he can forage.

Bin it!! I once made a pot of veg soup and didn't refrigerate it, sat on cooker for two days, smelt OK but when heated it tasted sour. Not wishing to waste it I eat it!! I didn't eat veg soup again for about a year it completely turned me off soup :( so I'd never risk it again, you nose rarely lies!

well it went in the bin.
so did the tub of stock which dh apparently couldnt tell was well past its best. im nipping to a pals with a bottle of wine and some nibbles instead.

Aw it's horrible throwing food away, makes me feel so guilty when I do.
