Someone please guide me. Also is it ok to use frozen fish for frying?

I've never fried fish. I either bake it in foil in the oven, poach it in milk in the saucepan, microwave it with a nob of butter and a bay leaf.
What fish is it you have?

JoolsToo · 06/04/2006 21:16

foil in the oven - shove it in and leave it - anything for an easy life!

Rhubarb · 06/04/2006 21:17

fry it, boil it, cook it, grill it, whatever, it'll still taste disgusting!

Bozza · 06/04/2006 21:19

Right I officially don't like fish. But when I was weaning the kids I used to poach them fish in milk in the oven or microwave. Recently though we have started having tuna steaks with lime and chilli and I do this in foil in the oven not even any washing up. We had it last night with couscous with added bits and it was soooo easy.

now now Rhubarb, you obviously have had my lovely salmon with peccorrino cheese and pesto topping have you?? Smile

hulababy · 06/04/2006 21:19

Yes, you should be able to. I haven't tried frying it, but I imagine they'd be no problem doing so at all, once defrosed.

Rhubarb · 06/04/2006 21:21

oh, you mean the salmon with all the pcb's that can give me cancer? Oh lovely! yummy yummy! Grin

Mercy · 06/04/2006 21:22

Yes, I go for baked too. But you can coat fish in whizzed up bread & egg and fry it. Make sure fish is totally defrosted though.

No one has mentioned steaming it - it's very good, I steam it with some peas and potatoes add in some full fat milk/cream and hey presto you have a yummy fish pie, usually bung in some carrots also to make it taste nicer as well, you can also add in some sweet potatoe instead of the usual savoury kind - disguises the bland flavour as well and also sneak in some spinach!

hulababy · 10/04/2006 22:07

The George grill is fab for fish too. Tuna steaks take about 1.5 minutes to cook perfectly :)

hulababy · 10/04/2006 22:08

Oh, and I sometimes do the Jamie Oliver parcels where you put all the ingrediants inside a foil parcel - fish, veggies, bit of wine or water, herbs, etc - and let it all cook together in the oven for 25 minutes
