Recipe anyone? One that really works, I mean. Mine tend to be too liquid. And no, I don't have an electric yoghurt maker.

I do mine in the elec yog maker, so I don't know if it makes a difference or not to the end result. I use a tablespoon of live yogurt to 700mls of skimmed UHT milk and add a couple of tablespoons of milk powder to help thicken it. If it's really runny, you can strain it through a muslin for an hour or so. Don't leave it too long though or it will turn to cheese!!

I have been wondering about home made yoghurt recently. Is it worth all the effort?

I would say it is busybee if you have enough people in the house to eat it all! My DH isn't that keen so I end up having to eat pints of the stuff myself! The bonus is that you know exactly what's in it in terms of added sugar (or not) I use UHT milk which is cheap (around 35p per litre) and doesn't need to be pre heated so I can make 700mls for less than 40p and the preparation time is less than a minute.
