If I'm doing minted lamb kebabs with rice - how can I make the rice 'tasty'/'interesting' - I use brown rice btw. Just think it's a bit plain. Was going to do salad with it but online shop not coming till tomorrow and no time to go shopping...

TIA!

Sorry, can't help much as I really don't like brown rice. DH likes it but it is so tasteless and nutty for me.

Can you throw in some of the herbs used in the kebabs?

GDG · 03/04/2006 17:36

Bought the kebabs from the butchers so not homemade I'm afraid! Blush

Should I mix in some peas and sweetcorn in the rice or something?

I'm crap at cooking!

why not make a taboulah but using rice instead of bulgar wheat (unless you have bulghar wheat which would be perfect.) Mix olive oil, clove of garlic , lemon juice, handful of chopped mint and parsley and dress the rice and add diced cucumber, tomato and spring onions?

hulababy · 03/04/2006 17:37

Yeah, through some veggies in and mix it all up. Maybe a bit of oil or some other herbs that go with lamb.

sounds yummy! did think of tomatoes and cucumber but got none in and no time to shop! I've got cous cous - should i just go sweetcorn and pea cous cous instead of rice? I usually add chicken to this so I guess chunks of lamb would be just the same?!

My mum used to make a savoury rice with softly fried onions, mushrooms and chopped tomatoes. Think you boil like normal and then fry with the above stuff, adding some butter to it to and season well.

tons of garlic, onion, olive oil and mushrooms - yum

WideWebWitch · 03/04/2006 17:44

black pepper and lemon juice plus fresh coriander if you have any.

WideWebWitch · 03/04/2006 17:45

black pepper, lemon juice would go well with the kebabs too.
