Is dripping and lard the same thing?

I think dripping has slightly more flavour as it's from beef whereas lard can be from other animals, so it may just be a question of how much you're depending on it for the end result. I think, anyway!

I would say not exactly lard is usually hard fat produced and purified from unused part of eg pig carcass and used in baking and bought in pure white blocks

dripping is produced from roasting but can also be from rendered down fat, if you cool it and use the hard part then it is like unrefined lard..but in practice it is usually meaty tasting and not pure white..i used to love bread and dripping but no one would eat lard and bread if they didn't have to

lardons are fatty bits of bacon aren't they

dripping is from a roast and generally has two layers - at the bottom are the solidifed meat juices - all brown and very tasty, and then there is a layer of fat - white and basically the same as lard.
