Using piping gel for watery look on a cake

Hi, I am making an eyeball cake for a Halloween party and have bought some piping gel to put over it, to give it that watery glazed eye look! [hgrin] However it seems very thick and despite looking I cant seem to find proper instructions on how to actually get it spread over my cake (which is basically a sponge cooked in a pyrex bowl covered in fondant icing)...can anyone help?

You can thin it slightly with a little water if needs be. if you just want a little for a 'wet' eye look then you should be able to brush it on with a paint brush. Normally you pipe it on but you can also use a pallet knife.

Thanks so much for that blue, I think I will do a practice cake to be on the safe side now.

This is how gruesome it should turn out

Warm the piping gel a bit (over warm water) and it will brush on fine.

Thanks for the tip re warming it, hopefully I will get it slimy looking, and yes I will post a pic! Making it on Saturday.
