I've made my 8 inch Christmas cake and it (currently) fits in the biggest cake box I have. But after the marzipan and icing goes on it will be too big. I've looked at Lakeland online and annoyingly I can't find the measurements for the storage they sell. I'd like a box large enough to store a 10 inch square decorated cake, can anyone tell me where they got theirs?

I've had a look at Lakeland again, eBay and Amazon and settled for a wham 15 litre square box 32x32 for £6.99 from Amazon. I was tempted by the lift out one in Lakeland but it only took 23cm cakes so it wasn't big enough.

If you are storing an iced cake, don't put it in a plastic box or the icing will sweat and ruin. You can get a card box from ebay or Almond Art

Oh, I didn't know that, I thought the box needed to be airtight! I will have a look for card boxes.

When you've cut into the cake, wedge a bit of clingfilm or foil into the cut bit (not over the icing) to keep it fresh Smile

Just came across this - I use the largest round Emma Bridgewater tin, upside down for our Christmas cake. It's 10" diameter and deep enough. They also do Square 10" ones as well :-) So that would do for an 8" square cake. They're expensive for the set of three but I managed to buy the largest one separately from Jarrolds. Cake tins like this aren't quite as sealed and airtight as plastic ones - which is good! Sometimes I just leave the top slightly on it rather than fixed down.
