stock cube, lasagne, and a baby

DD is 12 months old. I just made a lasagne for me and DP thinking I'd give her some for lunch tomorrow, all good stuff. Then without thinking added a stock cube (a proper adult one with a decent amount of salt). I know similar questions have been asked before. But in this instance would you still give a 1 year old some as a one off? I don't add salt at all to her food and it's all good normally.

I would no problem, it's not like she's having it everyday :) I think they can have normal stock cubes after 1 year anyway....

Can they? I don't know. But then I thought she wasn't allowed peanut butter and then discover that it's now anything but hunny. Bit of a tangent already but isn't it odd how we are so careful at first with what they have and then suddenly the rule is to feed them 'everything!' (within reason, not meaning to divert my own thread with rant!).

I think so, everything in moderation and all that. Yes I agree, I didn't give dd anything with nuts in for a while though as I was too scared! She eats everything now not macdonalds or sausage rolls though, oh no

I sat down and worked out how much salt there was in stock cubes in comparison to the safe amount for babies when I weaned Ds1 (many many years ago) I think I might have been being a bit PFB at the time Blush

There isn't (or wasn't!) that much salt in a stock cube, and after being spread throughout an entire meal, the amount remaining in a toddler sized portion is very very small indeed.

Your DD will be fine Smile

MrsDmitri, I was doing those calculations before posting on here. Surprisingly complex Blush

Thank you for the replies. Lasagne for lunch tomorrow then! :)
