Right, i've invited my mum down for lunch tomorrow but have no idea what to make, please help!

She quite a good cook not that she's expecting anything spectacular but would like to do something good and tasty, that the kids will eat aswell.
Any ideas?

my mother is cooking for us Smile

I don't know, because I'm Not Cooking It. It's Mothering Sunday, and I am a mother, therefore I intend to slob on the sofa for at least 10 out of my 14 waking hours, and spend the other 4 in the bath.

sorry, that doesn't help you though Grin

I'd do a roast, and prep the veg today.

My mum has cooked for us all on the "big" occasions but since i'm off work (usually a sunday) and she doesn't have a dining table in her newish house then thought it was about time i returned the gesture Smile

Jamie Oliver's 5 hour leg of lamb. Bung it in the oven with a bottle of white wine, red onions, spuds, parnsips, carrots and cook on low for 5 hours.

mrspitt · 25/03/2006 17:38

A roast what though? God , haven't even been to the supermarket probably nothing to prepare anyway!

Roast pork, various veg and potatoes.
Cauli cheese for me (veggie).

We are off to my mums or the day, and each to a bit for lunch to make it fair.

pebblemum · 25/03/2006 18:21

KFC, we are getting the mothers night off bucket.

We will be spending most of the day visiting our parents and by the time we get back it will be too late to cook so Dh is treating us.

it is mothers day after all when we are supposed to sit with our feet up instead of spending all day slaving away over a roast as usual

Yorkiegirl · 25/03/2006 18:21

roast chicken and the trimmings here

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/03/2006 18:22

whatever dh knocks up! I never cook anyway, so not too bothered!

fairydust · 25/03/2006 18:22

roast beef and all the trimmings here

Was planning a roast, but as the oven packed up yesterday I'll be doing malaysian curry (Silver lining's recipe in the archives, yum) and home made orange and lime ice cream. I'm quite pleased the oven died, it'll be less hassle than a roast and my mum will prefer it anyway!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 25/03/2006 19:24

DH always cooks, [lucky girl emotion}

Tomorrow we are having, steaks with a brandy and peppercorn sauce, garlicky potatoes, and fresh veg.

Nice and easy, but totally yummy. Grin

Jamie Olivers 5 hour lamb-that sounds gorgeous is it really easy to make?
