Hungry at night

DS 14 months old often wakes hungry at night. Previously excellent sleeper. Have been giving a bottle (or sometimes 2) at night to get him back to sleep - any suggestions for alternative tactic? If he does sleep through the night - will wake at 5/5.30 am and be raring to go. Have tried giving snacks last thing at night & cutting down on daytime naps & snacks - no obvious results.

I am not sure what you should do, but I know what you should not do and that is give him extra bottles at night to get him back to sleep. He will simply expect them from now on and you will be making things harder for yourself in the future.

If you really think he is hungry at night, you need to boost his intake during the day. If he is not sleepy, you need to cut down his naps during the day. IMO he is of an age where he can be told that night time is not the right time to be awake and NOTHING should be given to him in the night to encourage him to stay awake.

I agree with DumbledoresGirl but my DS is a lot younger so don't have any experience to offer. As she says, if you really think he isn't eating enough in the day you could try bulking his food up a bit more: more pasta, potato... I think you're probably looking at CC though & hopefully someone else on here can help you with that.

Good luck, hope you manage to solve it soon!
