Thought I'd do:

1st Course : Antipasti -mortadella parcels, anchovies, mozzeralla, tomato, brushettas, russian salad and cold meats

2nd course: pasta - possibly a linguine with seafood or a penne with homemade pesto

3rd course - main - Chicken breasts with sparkling wine & cream served with potato and bacon gratin and baby veg

4th course - desert - HELP - I'm not sure. Was thinking something light, something easy and possible something to go with homemade coconut icecream?????

5th course - cheese, biscuits and grapes

6th course - coffee and home made biscotti

Has anyone suggested creme brulee yet? It's my favorite!

Nigella's lemon icecream- made in 5 minutes flat, with epensive wafer things from M and S impressed my Italian friends last week. I wouldn't dare serve Tiramisu, but also have a recipe which is a cheat's one and fab.

You need chocolate chip cookies, cream- double/ whipping , alcohol- just chose what you like- works with cointreau/sherry- tonight I've used tia maria.

Best made the day before

You're going to build the pud like you would lasagne -so-

Whip the cream till thick.
soak the biscuits in the booze, a few at a time.
Make a bottom layer of the boozy bics.
Put a layer of cream on top.
another layer of biscuits.
another layer of cream.
And so on....
Put in the fridge till needed.

I do it in a crystal bowl to look nice, and you can decorate it with some chocolate shavings/flake type thing.
The biscuits kind of 'melt' with the booze and cream, and it is yummy. I'll be scoffing it tomorrow night.

Right off for my dinner now(it's my anniversary and dh is cooking)

It also works with orange juice - if a family thing I would normally do a booze free one too. And little helping hands enjoy making this one too.

sammac · 23/03/2006 20:24

Thanks TC
