Can you re-heat rice safely?

We went out to an Bangladeshi restuarant last night and they boxed up what we hadn't eaten. But they put the curry and rice together in one tub.

DD wants it for tea, but I always thought it was dangerous to re-heat rice cos of all the bacteria etc.

Any advice?

you can reheat rice. the safety of rice is when you want to eat it cold, to eat rice cold (eg rice salad) you should cool it quickly as soon as cooked to avoid bacteria. Just reheat to piping hot as you would anything else.

You can reheat rice you have cooked indoors as long as you let it cool before storing in fridge and reheating until piping hot.

However the advice is always given that you should never reheat rice from a restaurant/takeaway because you don't know how many times it has already been reheated.

Personally I would bin.

Your not meant to because it can contain a nasty toxin that isn't destroyed by cooking.

You buys your take away and eats your left overs at your own risk.

Personally, I've been reheating takeaway and home cooked rice (lunch is going to be just that) for 26 years and haven't been ill yet.

If its been fridged properly overnight, and you heat it til piping, I'd eat it.

If you have any doubts about how its been stored, throw it out.

Of course you can. What do you think is served to you at the local chinese or indian? They don't boil rice as they go, it is prepared in advance and warmed through before being served to you.

Just cool it quickly and stick in the fridge.

Thanks, I cooled it quickly & it was in fridge all night. So will heat up to piping hot & enjoy.
