What is 'good' ham for ham sandwiches?

my boys love ham sandwiches, but I'm getting increasingly worried about the health risks of ham. Is there a kind of ham that is better than others that I should be buying?

Ham off the bone from a deli rather than processed wafer thin stuff is probably your best bet. Expensive stuff though.

As long as you avoid smoked ham I wouldn't worry. Smoked products are not good for you - but I do love the bacon! If you prefer you could buy a good gammon joint from a butcher, soak it to get rid of as much salt as possible then roast it yourself and use that. That's probably the best option.

It's not "good ham" it's "naice" ham.

Carry on.

Ham on bone is bit too pricey for me as both DC's only really eat cheese or ham sndwiches for lunch every day Hmm. will go for non smoked naice ham then

Do you have an Asda near you? They do gammon pre sliced for £3 a pack from the deli and it is lovely, not smoked.

The bad news is that even "naice" ham is really bad for you. Once a week or so might be ok, but not every day.
