I am going to attempt homemade yorkie puds for tea, I only have self raising flour is that a problem?

Any easy peasy idiot proof recipies would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

You'll get a more cake like texture with SR flour and hence, they are different. Delia, Jamie and Co tend not to recommend it but you may as well have a try if you really cannot get hold of plain flour.

Here is a recipe -

I always put the oil/fat run off from the meat into the pudding pan and heat it until it's smoking hot. Then carefully pour in the mixture.

You need the fat to be really hot - animal fat is better than veg oil.

I don't do the tradittional method. I put two eggs and about 1/2 pint of milk in a jug and add plain flour until it resembles double cream.

Pour into the hot oil and leave for 15 mins

Try this: 4oz pl flour, two whole eggs and one egg white. Mix with enough milk to make a batter. Get the pan and oil really hot. Leave one muffin section empty so that when you pull the tray out of the oven, you don't spontaneously combust! This recipe has never let me down and they take about 20 mins to cook. If there are any left over, freeze them and reheat for a few mins when needed. Good luck!

I use the Jamie Oliver one from the book / series where he was trying to teach people to cook can't remember what it was called Hmm it's great I've never had it fail, except for the time my mother opened the oven midway through
