Boozy damsons - any good for jam?

I have a load of damsons left over from making damson gin last year. After I strained it, about six months ago, I bunged all the gin-sodden fruit into the freezer with a vague idea that I would use it in a fruit cake.

Got given a couple lbs of fresh damsons this morning, which reminded me that I have yet to do anything with the frozen ones.

Do you think mixing the gin-soaked fruit with the fresh and making it into jam would work?

I have absolutely no idea but I applaud and support the idea in principle.

Boozy jam, yeah!

i can't see why not - i was wondering if the alcohol might affect the setting point or somesuch nonsense but since it's been in the freezer, there won't be any alcohol left will there?

sounds lovely - if it's not a success, send it to me i'll eat anything i'll chuck it out for you

To be fair, any sentence beginning "Do you think mixing the gin-soaked fruit with....." was going to get a yes from this poster.

Just found a site selling raspberry gin dam, so I'm thinking damson gin jam is a goer.

Was planning some kind of fruit cake, but they're buggers to get the stones out of.

Right. Off to get some jam sugar and dig out the maslin pan...
