It's called a knife Grin

lotsofteddies · 13/09/2012 12:23

Hmm, I have relied on a knife for years and although I apreciate the fact that I can get my onions really small with a knife I really want to treat myself to something a bit, you know...swanky.

But there are so many out there, some of the reviews are good but some bad!

I want to know a good onion dicer too!!!

AMumInScotland · 13/09/2012 17:24

I gave up on a garlic crusher and have started buying frozen crushed garlic "ice cubes" instead!

MaureenMLove · 13/09/2012 17:27

Lazy garlic and frozen chopped onions, is the way forward! Grin And lazy chilli for that matter!

MumOfAPickle · 13/09/2012 17:33

We use an ancient traditional garlic crusher which is just metal and hinged. It does the job but I'm always after lazier ways to do stuff! Would love an onion dicer. Have pretty much converted to lazy chilli as I hate chopping chilli but garlic & onion too pricey like that as we use it a lot.

Frozen chopped onions all the way Smile I couldn't live without them now.

I didn't know you could get frozen chopped onions! And I haven't heard of Lazy garlic and chilli.

After many days of reading various reviews I've gone for this I initially thought I didn't want an electrical item but the price is better than the manual one I was considering.

Zyliss garlic press is my favourite. Traditional bit of kit with a good non-stick surface that the galic skin peels right off. Onion choppers are a waste of time. Sharp knife far quicker and there's less washing up. However, if it goes beyond just an onion, I quite like the mini food processor attachment that came with my stick blender.

My old garlic crusher died recently (we eat a lot of garlic!) so I replaced it with a £4 one from ASDA. It's way better than my original expensive one!
I've tried various onion choppers but agree that a good sharp knife (Kitchen Devil serrated) is best.

I swear by this for garlic - the best invention ever! No waste, no mess and ready in seconds. Got one at a food fair years ago and it's lasted brilliantly for the price! Sorry, cant link on phone but easy to remember: www.garlictwist.com

I bave an onion chopper a bit like this one - its much easier than chopping by hand
