Bit salty - but varied - a lot of food though, is it for an older child?

DottyWottyDooDah · 11/09/2012 22:35

8 1/2 out of 10

:)

Hassled · 11/09/2012 22:36

Why would you bother with half a satsuma? They're never exactly massive, are they? You don't eat a whole satsuma and think "bloody hell, I'm stuffed to the gills".

It sounds like alot. What age child? My dh sometimes does the lunches and he can't seem to help himself putting in loads.

SheelaNeGoldGig · 11/09/2012 22:41

Sandwich or pizza or chickrn. Not all.

numptymark1 · 11/09/2012 22:42

that's a lot of food!

pictish · 11/09/2012 22:47

Why do you want us to score your kid's lunchbox?
Put whatever you think is suitable in it, like we all do.

ScorpionQueen · 11/09/2012 22:57

It's a lot of food. I try to hit all the food groups and include a couple of their 5 a day. They don't need more than they would eat at home just because they are in school.

midori1999 · 12/09/2012 00:18

Sorry, but I can't answer properly because I am giggling too much at Hassled's comment. Grin

BeaWheesht · 12/09/2012 00:24

That's a he'll of a lot of savoury food and just food

BassaiDai · 12/09/2012 00:25

Me too midorri. I'm even imagining her sitting back and rubbing her tummy as she says it, ala Jim Royal. Grin

ScorpionQueen · 12/09/2012 09:30

I think it's someone else's lunch box, not the OP's at all. Although, how would they know the chicken was organic...?

(Ponders reason for thread.)

Chopstheduck · 12/09/2012 09:34

'Ponders reason for thread' - seems like a possibe stealth boast to me! Hmm

I'd love to have the time in the mornings though, to faff around with all that. I make a sarnie, throw it at the kids, and they grab fruit, cheese crisps etc.

starfishmummy · 12/09/2012 09:38

It is a totally unreasonable lunchbox - it has marmite in it!! GrinGrin

pictish · 12/09/2012 09:56

You know when a sylph-like size eight starts going on about putting weight and getting really fat, just so everyone will chime in and tell her how lovely and slim she is?

That.

mummyneedingahug · 12/09/2012 19:55

Ummm right, wont bothering seaking advice again. Mumsnet isn't what it used to be.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 12/09/2012 19:56

So. Much. Food.

nkf · 12/09/2012 19:58

I am going to take it seriously.
What is the criteria?
Cost
Amount of salt
Imagination
Food groups
Visual impact

summerintherosegarden · 13/09/2012 08:32

I'm taking it seriously too, because that lunchbox isn't anywhere near healthy enough to be a stealth boast!

I assume your concern is health OP - you're certainly providing plenty of variety?
In which case I'd say - choose either pizza or sandwich plus chicken (neither the pizza nor the sandwich is likely to have much protein) and substitute the lost item with some salad or vegetable eg carrot sticks. Better still get rid of the chicken tenders which are likely to be quite salty and send a little pot of hummus or other bean dip.

I'd probably send another satsuma (yeah...I don't understand the 1/2 satsuma either) and lose the smoothie because you're actually winding up with a fair bit of sugar in there.

charlottehere · 13/09/2012 08:40

Why OP? Smile My 10 (nearly11 year old), has taken a cheese and onion roll, a whole stasuma, mini packet ritz crackers and water. bad and she has moaned about how she is going to starve as she doesn't want the roll as she can't heat it up you knew this when we bought them lovey and now doesn't like the crackers. She then decided she didn't want toast or rice crispies for breakfast and had a pcket of raisans.

charlottehere · 13/09/2012 08:42

My 7 (nearly 8 year old) had a ham sandwich, water, yogurt, apple and will prbab;y eat most of that without moaning. I'm happy with that. Smile

WantAnOrange · 13/09/2012 09:20

DS (6) usually has a sandwitch, a piece of fruit, a veg (carrot sticks or something), dairy (yogurt or cheese cubes) and a home-made cake or jelly.

WantAnOrange · 13/09/2012 09:21

Oh and I read that as 1 or 2 satsumas.

Claryrocks · 17/09/2012 19:16

What the hell are chicken sticks? I'm guessing even if they are organic I wouldn't want them!
