Can I cook raw mince from frozen?

I was planning a spag bol or chilli tonight but forgot to take the mince out of the freezer last night. I need to make a start on it now, really, but the mince is still quite frozen. Is it ok to cook it from frozen? I've always been a bit funny about it. I like my meat to defrost fully before it's cooked (although my husband would say it's fine)

Yes, I often cook from frozen. Just keep forking it off the frozen block as it cooks.

Defrost with a microwave?

same as agent.

Yep I'd cook it in the sauce on a very low heat for at least 1 1/2 I often do this

When I defrost mince in the microwave it's sometimes a bit frozen in the middle when I come to cook it, (its butchers mince so in a ball rather than flat like in the supermarket).
No-ones died yet Grin as long as it's well cooked through it will be fine.

Yes I do what Agent said

I'll get started on it now, then! Thanks Smile

Just out of interest, is it only poultry that needs to be fully defrosted before cooking? I always fully defrost all of my meat as a rule.

I must confess to cooking poultry from frozen too.

I wouldn't cook a whole chicken from frozen as the outside would be dried out by the time the interior had reached proper temperature, but I do cook thigh chunks etc from frozen if it is something like a casserole / curry where it will be gently cooked for long time so I know that the meat is cooked through.
