Hi
Sorry if this is a really dumb question.....

My DD wants pitta bread with tuna mayo for her school lunch tomorrow.

I have bought some pitta bread from Tescos, do I need to do anything to it.

It says on the back about toasting / grilling, do I need to do this, or do I just fill them 'raw' ?

Im sure you can guess I've never used pitta before !!

whats best

Thanks

You should heat them up by grilling or toasting so that they puff up. You will then be able to slit them open and stuff them

thanks so either way is fine, I wasn't sure if they could be eaten 'raw' so to speak.

I will try lightly toasted, might be easier to fill for a newbie

I ping pitta for about 30 seconds to swell it enough to split & fill. I also toast pitta let it go cold and crunch it up it's lovely through a salad and healthy, but if I'm having guests (who my not like the blandness of it) I moisten it very slightly (wet hand rub) sprinkle cracked pepper, seasalt and some herbs on it (sticks to moist surface) and either toast if I'm lazy or stick in the oven, let it cool then cut up over a salad (it will be very crisp, break & crumble) also good over soup :)
