I bought a bottle of pomegranate molasses syrup today as I loved the bottle and was feeling adventurous.

How do I cook with it?
I understand it's used in the Middle East in savory dishes.

It smells divine.

No idea, but I'm jealous already!

moondog · 14/03/2006 19:41

Megg, have just been admiring my bottle! Smile
I got mine in Turkey-over there they drizzle it (no oil) onto salad of copped tomato, onoin and cucumber.
Very nice.
Am thinking it could also be used rather like tamarind and as a marinade.
I have been meaning to get dh to question the Turks in his office more closely re it.
Will get back to you on it.
I also like it neat. Blush

MrsBadger · 14/03/2006 19:41

sure Nigella uses this...

I've used it in Moroccan tagines etc balanced against lemon to stop it getting too treacly

meggmoo · 14/03/2006 19:43

Moondog I was thinking about the tamarind connection too. Wondered about making stuffed puris and using it as part of a dressing.

Blu, it's gorgeous stuff.

Blush have been pouring loads onto a spoon and wolfing it like a cough medicine junkie!

MrsMuddle · 16/03/2006 20:33

Thanks for this. I've had a bottle in the fridge for ages and not known what to do with it. I bought it cos I needed it for a recipe, but since I bought it, I've not been able to find the recipe. I'm sure it was in a Nigella book. Can anyone help me out?

Thank you SueW. I think it was the Lebanese moussaka that I bought it for originally, but I'm definately going to make the berry cakes at the weekend. They look fab. Yum. Smile
