Calling all you meal planners out there....

.....it's time I got organised and actually started one!

So, is it a huge hassle, or really easy?

Any top tips you can throw my way?

Does it save money, cos my shopping bill seems to be getting higher and higher!!?

I have 3ds's. The 12 yr old has a cooked lunch at school, but he says it's not that much. He is as skinny as a rake, so I don't mind cooking for him again whne he gets home. DS2 (aged 3) doesn't eat (slight exaggeration there, but won't eat the 'proper' meals I cook) so I won't include him. DS3 eats pretty much anything, but he is 15 months so not the spicy stuff. DH works away quite a lot, so on the days he is away, I don't want to be cooking a huge meal for DS1 and I, when DS has eaten at school and I'm not fussed.

Is it gonna be a complete nightmare for me?

Thanks for the planner Yorkiegirl, looks great. Easy to see what you need for the week by putting it all down.

Mom, surely it's a trolley and a wilful toddler Grin

Hmm, I normally go when C is at nursery, but needs must tomorrow so I will go armed with breadsticks and the like. It will be a nightmare, but if I expect it then it shouldn't be too much of a shock!!

Right I am definately going to do this meal planner thing. Have been meaning to for a while, but we are moving soon and the mortgate will be higher so gotta save somewhere else.

Because of working part time I nearly always double cook. I have just ordered my delivery for Thursday. We will be having:

Bulgarwheat and veg pie with roasted veg (peppers/red onions/courgettes/mushrooms)
Macaroni cheese with leeks and bacon
visting friends on Sunday - will be Chinese takeaway
Shepherd's pie with carrots and cabbage

Then working Tues to Thurs so out of the freezer it will be:
Mushroom and parmesan risotto
Chicken tikka masala
Spicy sausage and pasta salad

calebsmummy · 14/03/2006 21:46

Hah, you can't escape me though Mom, Wink.

I just remembered the first time you said you were pushing J in his trolley and I got a little confused Grin

Don't leave though Mom, pleeeeeeeeaaaassssee!!

Hmmm, Bozza, my DS1 would love macaroni cheese with leeks and bacon! And the spicy sausage and pasta salad! He eats so well, I am really lucky with him and DS3.

Nemo, yup Mom, pushes her trolley around Grin Tis a Sainsburys one no less Grin

Sorry Mom, only teasing, I do live in Winchester now, I dread to think what they get called here - lol.

Yes I am lucky with my two. Although I have to admit that I made the tikka masala a bit hot for DD (she's only 1). You could tell she liked the flavour but was struggling with it. Grin

MerlinsBeard · 15/03/2006 19:44

lol @ you calebsmummy telling everyoine i oush a sainsburys trolley Grin

I just call buggies/pushchairs etc trolleys lolol

Cowboy hotpot is NOT a winner here Sad i managed a few mouthfuls b4 the nausea took over (been ill, nothing to do with the hotpot) and it was lovely. Neither of the boys liked it altho i did manage to get J to try it which is a start.

5 portions of fruit/veg a day means 5 chews right? Wink
