Does anyone make their own "Graze" box?

I've just had my 2nd box of a 4 box special offer, and they've been a godsend while I'm pregnant.

Just wondering if anyone does their own, and a cost effective way of doing it?

Nuts and seeds etc can be so expensive.

I had a big jar of 'graze' food when I was pregnant. Bought up a load of stuff from Holland & Barrett/Waitrose (Sunflower seeds, roasted corn, dried sour cherries, chewy banana, cashews, dried pineapple & papaya...etc.) shoved it all in a big glass jar, gave it a shake and took a bagful out with me every day.

I think it cost around £15 to make but it lasted ages. :)

I used to get one when I was at work (mat leave now), which was great as I worked three days, so a snack a day and two for Fridays (or olives for Friday night pizza). I thought they were quite pricey though, and couldn't justify the cost once I was on mat leave. I have noticed that Tesco do little bags of Graze type snacks at 3 for £2, so I might get those when I go back to work.

I like going on:

I tried the big jar of mixed fruits and seeds and stuff, but i always ate it so quickly it worked out really expensive.

mind you, the only time i had a graze box i polished it off in one evening with a glass of wine and a DVD, so perhaps I'm not best placed to comment.

Nope. Far too risky Grin

I used to have the graze boxes but I had to cancel because as soon as they came through the door they were ripped open and scoffed. Blush

Did I hear right? Graze? Is that not what cows do? Confused Eat a proper breakfast.

I had them for a short while as well, but I stopped after a month and a half or so. It would be easy enough to do yourself, for cheaper. The risk (for me, at least) is having full bags of that sort of stuff around the house. I'd definitely munch through it all, at higher portions than what they ship.

But if you really want to, well, just have a look at the whole foods section of any supermarket. Bags of nuts, different flavoured nuts, rice crackers, dried fruits etc. Check the import aisle first because they will have almonds/ dried fruit a bit cheaper than the whole foods area.

You'd have to portion it all out yourself and trust yourself not to eat it all, of course. But it would work out a lot cheaper than Graze, especially if you get the ones which are essentially 5 tiny breadsticks and some chutney. :)

I make up my own when I'm at work. I find I get shakey around 4pm no matter what I've had at lunchtime, so grazing throughout the day helps with that.
I have a selection of small plastic food containers, and fill them with tasty stuff. I like a selection of nuts/seeds, sweet/savoury and I always include something to dip insto (cream cheese, humous, guacamole) and things to dip with (oatcakes and veg sticks usually).
For the DCs I have snack pots. They have a lid that lets their fingers in, but stops bits falling out. I fill them with dried fruit, nuts, seeds, cereal (dry!), and some choc chips or chocolate nuts/raisins if I'm feeling generous!

Bought myself some lovely (if expensive) fruit, seed and nut mix to take to work tomorrow. Last night DH comes wandering in the living room with the whole bag in a bowl stuffing huge handfuls in his gob! FFS.

Oh well, back to crisps and chocolate at work then.
