Freezing home cooked bread......

I want to cook my own wholemeal bread. To make it worthwile i need to do it in batches and freeze a few.

How do you freeze yours and in what? Do they freeze well?

my folks just wrap theres in a plastic bag and pop it straight in the freezer - personall, I would protect it a bit better than that but there bread always comes out fine.

I honestly don't know, will be interested to hear. Home-made bread in out house doesn't even get chance to cool down, let alone make it to the freezer. A lot of bought bread doesn't freeze well, imo - the crusts go hard.

I used to make a batch of 8 or even 16 loaves at a time and freeze them, no probs. I used empty cornflakes bags (or whatever) to freeze them in to save money, cheapskate that I am.
I have a bread machine now so don't bother.

Sadly, full of cold and cough thanks for asking. Got a grotty dd upstairs too. Could do with a holiday tbh.

Surely the point of making your own bread is because it tastes better, not because it's cheaper (I don't think it is anyway). Wouldn't freezing it affect the taste and therefore render making your own bread too much like hard work?

It still tastes great after freezing, and you can freshen up the crust with a couple of minutes in the oven.

Unfortunately money is the real issue here, flavour second hence cooking but then freezing.

my Mum has always cooked and frozen bread. IIRC I think she just puts it in a poly bag
