The title says it all I love baking, but I have been diagnosed a coeliac done and exclusion and then awful challenge so all the gluten has to go. I don't currently make bread, but think this maybe my best option as I always prefer the artisan type bread. Do you have wonderful recipes and ingredient recommendations please.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but my DSis (gluten free, not coeliac) loves Phil Vickery and has this book, though he has done others. There are books with GF recipes in (more and more now... I like to bake for her too). The Fiona Cairns book of Birthday Cakes has some lovely GF options - maybe photocopy bits from your local library?

As far as bread goes DSis tends to either eat rice cakes or toast Dietary Specials bread. I have seen nice soft GF bread in M&S but I don't know what it tastes like.

I'm coeliac, as are my mum, sister and niece. I love this blog for recipes including bread... And the River Cafe flour free chocolate cake is awesome for birthdays.

Thank you for all your lovely ideas have passed all my regular flour etc on to one of my nurses. Have bought my doves farm flours, baking powder etc ( by the way did you know that waitrose is considerably cheaper than Tescos). Found a recipe on good food website for gluten free tomato bread which is in the oven now.

You've had lots of good advice already and you'll also find lots of help re baking and all things coeliac here:

members2.boardhost.com/glutenfree/

Also on the supplementary board there are years of distilled wisdom re baking etc.

coeliac.proboards.com/index.cgi

There is no need to register for either board to access the information.

You'll soon get into the swing of it all!

Nickel? Block stork isn't fish oil, it's veg oil.

Hi,

This place does gluten free baking courses.

For days when you don't feel like doing the whole thing, try Glebe Farm cake / muffin / scone mixes. Delicious, and no-one ever realises they are gluten free.

Definitely buy the Honeybuns book of gluten free baking - it's fab. Also check out glutenfreecanteen.com which is a mostly gluten free baking blog with some gorgeous ideas.

Nooooooo gf baking is fine!! My DD is celiac and I love baking we have a gf house now! For DD2s recent christening I baked cupcakes for 100 guests and they went down a storm no one knew they were gf! Try the different mixes till you find one you like I use doves farm for cakes etc but for pastry and yorkie puds the juvela white mix which you can get on prescription admittedly not tried bread but I'm gonna invest in a bread maker. I got a great book on gf baking I will look at the title tomorrow and re post

right, we made last night an amazing and gorgeous pie from Good Food magazine.

it was made with risotto rice, but looked like veggie shepherd's pie.
it was gorgeous.

I will try to find the recipe....
