breakfast ideas

What do you feed a 15 month old for breakfast?

My ds gets weetabix or porrige and fruit puree with milk. I have recently tried shredded wheat (mashed down very well in warm milk) but he wasn't too keen- - Can't say I blame him Grin

Are there any other cereals that work OK for babies (i.e not too much salt/sugar)?

He won't eat toast though he will eat bread but not butter. He also eats cheddar cheese and yoghurt. He won't eat eggs either.

At the moment he seems to eat nothing but bread, cheese and a bit of weetabix. Yoghurt is off the menu as he has a really bad cold and it seems to make his congestion worse so I avoid yoghurt when he is really bunged up.

I'm not sure what else to offer him to broaden his repertoire a bit - I don't know about him but 2 weeks of weetabix/porrige and plain bread with a bit of cheese is beginning to bore me.

Any ideas?

Mine loves eating cornflakes, with a little bit of milk mixed in, will often eat them straight from the dish rather than use a spoon.

Have you tried French toast ie bread dipped in raw egg and then fried till cooked?

Sliced banana and or raisins to go with the bread?

You could try making your own cereals with other grains. I used to give my dd millet with pureed fruit to sweeten.

What about those Muller rice type desserts or maybe too sweet?

puffed rice cereal is good (the no-sugar kind)
ready brek with fruit mixed in (or on the side)
french toast too is good. or try scrambled eggs with some beans on the side (only way i can get ds to eat scrambled eggs!)

good luck!:)

ds (now 20.5 months) used to LOVE scrambled egg when he was around 16 months. i used to 'sneak' veggies in it like spinach! and cheese too!
