Hi

Does anyone have a recipe which uses seaweed that might be good to try? I've heard it has huge health benefits for all the family and I'm curious now

Thanks

Sorry I don't have a recipe, but if you buy the chinese crispy seaweed it is actually cabbage.

Maybe google 'lava bread'.

Sushi is the obvious one I suppose.

DH makes a very simple recipe for salmon where he coats sheets of nori with wasabi, wraps salmon fillets with them like parcels (wasabi on the inside) and bakes. Really lovely.

I made a nice salad with lettuce, salad onions, arame, avocado and almonds (toasted sesame seeds or any other nut would work too) and dressing of sesame oil, balsamic, soya, lime and a little sugar (I used agave nectar). Arame is super easy because you just soak 15 min, squeeze out excess water and throw into the salad. Everyone loved it.

Recipes from a great book called Feeding the whole family by Cynthia Lair which no one has ever heard of but everything we've ever made from it has been out of this world. Aimed at families eating together and lots of seaweed recipes (not just nori and arame but dulse and wakame as well). I had to order it from the US but it came in 2 days. I have quite a large cookbook collection but this one was the best cookbook purchase I've made in the last 5 years.

I got both the nori and the arame in our local Sainsburys!

I love the sound of that salmon.
I have nori and wasabi in so would just need some salmon from the fishmongers.

I'm Welsh and love lava bread. I know it's hard to get it else where but I think you can buy it on line.

Absolutely the best mixed with enough fine oatmeal to make it stiff enough to form into burgers or patties.

Traditionally they are fried in bacon fat and are to die for. You must try some.

I've just seen it tinned on Amazon, am very tempted to buy some.

DH makes what I call algae stock with it (boils water, adds seaweed, turns heat off and leaves to infuse). It then works as a flavour enhancer in stir fry, Thai curry etc.
