...not necessarily a top of the range one but one that's good at chopping, grating, shredding etc. The time has come - i am definitely getting one.

This thread is very old, but if you’re here looking for the latest products, we’ve recently refreshed our guide to the best food processor with the top models recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

Bumping this for you ....

I've got a Magimix ... find it invaluable and use it all the time - for baking too sometimes.

busybusybee · 14/03/2006 22:41

I was going to ask this too

So much choice, such variation in price, no idea what to go for

Tommy · 14/03/2006 22:57

will watch this with interest -mine is on its last legs...

hoxtonchick · 14/03/2006 23:19

love my magimix

MrsSpoon · 14/03/2006 23:21

Magimix. They are expensive but last forever.

ScummyMummy · 14/03/2006 23:23

magimix is definitely always hailed as the best. Love ours. But v pricey- you won't get change from £100.

Not a food processor but what I really really really want is a KitchenAid .... one day, maybe!

vitomum · 15/03/2006 22:37

oooh what a nice surprise to see this bumped and responded to - thanks everyone! maybe i should just splurge on the magimix, especially if it lasts forever - talking myself into this now. would love to know what makes it superior to others. and what a kitchen aid? i always thought that was a kind of food processor.

Does magimix do grating?

We have a giant food processor in a box somewhere, I get it out for big grating jobs if I decide it's worth it. Mostly, I just hand-grate, less work, if you take into account the getting out, plugging in, assembling, and then washing it all up afterwards ...

Magimix's bowls are made from the same stuff they make fighter jet windscreens from and the blades are Sabatier, the motor is also designed to last for years. The model I have has three different sized bowls which is handy. You can get loads of blades, slicing, grating, mixing, juicing etc, etc.

About to buy a Magimix 5200 XL - has extra large feed tube so can take large veggies and has a free juicer - DH says I'll never use it though !!)

I have a Braun which was given to me about 20 years ago and is still going strong - unfortunately as I'd like a new one!

hoxtonchick · 17/03/2006 09:11

my magimix was my grandmother's, who was an ace cook. she had it for years, & now i've inherited it. enough said!
