What can I freeze for DH Grandma?

Firstly -Sorry if this kind of thread has been done a lot already! :)

I have been asked to cook meals for husband's nan who is 82, they need to be able to be frozen then collected by MIL once a week then they need to be able to be reheated in a microwave by Nans drop in carer daily. Has anybody got any suggestions of good dinners please? I intend to do cottage pie, mince meat stew and dumplings, mince meat cobbler (i know she likes mince!) and a general stew, what else? She doesn't like pasta. MIL said about sausage and mash but can that be frozen then reheated in a microwave??? What about veg? She doesn't like peas or carrots (both which I know can be frozen) but will broccoli etc be OK cooked, frozen then microwaved? Any help would be gratefully received.

Sausage and mash absolutely fine frozen and reheated, as is veg. What about thing like fish pie? Individual mince beef pies, mini meatloafs with mash/veg/gravy, chicken breast/potatoes/veg. If you get little tuppaware tubs you can set it out inside like a ready meal that can just be popped straight into the microwave and put on a plate.

virtually all veg can be blanched then cooked in micro but frozen veg from supermarket is excellent.

my dad likes roasts, cottage/shepherds pie/fish n chips, fish pie/ chicken pie (with mash)/corn beef hash
but i can thoroughly recommend these people who i used for my dad. i have a repeat order for him and he gets delivery when he needs it. it is good value and the nice delivery man puts it in his freezer, puts the kettle on and makes a cuppa! really really good
or if you want just to browse for menu ideas even?

Thank you both for your answers, I will try some chicken based dinners and fish pie as well. Think she is quite fussy now but if I do a little range hopefully she can choose. If you ask her what she wants she only answers porridge! (5 bowls yesterday) I will investigate Wiltshire foods and get some ideas from them and maybe use them as well as me. :)

I miss read your title as 'can I freezer DH Grandma'

I would stick with the traditional english fayre.

Cottage/shepherd pie
stews/casseroles
Pie & Veg.

Perhaps dishes like this small pie dishes.

Stews, individual pies, lasagne
For the veg to go with it I would be tempted to get some of the steam fresh type bags which can be easily microwaved.

wheredidiputit - not sure I could fit her in the freezer, painful back, don't think she would bend..... ;)

I like the pie dishes, problem is I go into Lakeland for one thing and end up spending loads on lots of other things I 'must' have!

I think I will use frozen veg, just tuck them in with the meals once I have froze them, the carers have a lot of other things to do with nan so meals need to be simply shoved into microwave then put on a plate.

I used to do this for my Mum. She ate so little if I batch cooked specially for her she had masses of the same thing! I used to batch cook for us and do a couple for her. But also quite often I would cook an evening meal for us and put a portion or two aside for her. Frozen veg is great for adding to dishes.

M & S were good for a back up supply too.

She liked chicken in sauce dishes. Rice freezes fine as well, but you must make sure you cool and freeze it very quickly.

Shepherds pie Grin Don't do what I did... I made some for my Grandma, but I ate it all before I saw her Blush
