Decaff tea - any recommendations?

I have decided to cut back on caffeine a bit, I drink a lot of tea, 7 or 8 cups a day. However last time I tried decaff 6 or 7 years ago when pregnant it was pretty crap (PG Tips/Tetleys).

Can anyone recommend a good brand? I like a strong cuppa and don't want to switch to Earl Grey / herbals etc (they are OK occasionally but I don't like them enough to drink in large quantities).

Yorkshire here, i dont touch caffeine though and haven't for years as it upsets my stomach so I wouldn't know if they're good. what I'd do for a caffeine free full fat coke!

DP and I love the M&S decaff tea - I replaced our caffeinated tea a year back with this and now I can't find a tea I like as much.

Yorkshire tea bags are great, but I can't find decaf loose tea anywhere other than the Internet.

DH and I drink Tesco's / Asda's own brand decaff at home - have been doing so for years Smile

Well, I am sitting here with a cup of Lidl in my hand and it's perfectly drinkable. I mentioned it at work and someone produced a pack of PG Tips decaff from the back of a cupboard and that was ok too (despite being 6 months out of date). Just waiting for Mr Ocado to arrive with the Yorkshire.

Lidl is what I get most of the time, WhoKNows, & it is very nice Smile

in fact DS1 (grown-up) accidentally made himself a cup of ordinary Typhoo today & disliked it so much he poured it away & made another one of Lidl decaff, which was fine Grin

I'm not sure it's the caffeine that makes plain tea so different, or tannin - does de-caffing take tannin out too, does anybody know?

OK, I made a mistake with the Ocado order and ended up with Twinings and Yorkshire, as well as the Lidl I bought earlier. I just made a cup of all 3 plus our usual ones for a blind tasting, then the phone rang while the bags were in the cups and they all ended up a bit stewed! I couldn't be bothered to start again, so we tried them anyway. And none of them tasted great, including the full caff ones, grrr. So, I'm going to try again tomorrow.

I do appreciate everyones suggestions, thank you!

Tried again this morning and the winner was Twinings.

I found Waitrose own tasted sort of smoky like Earl Grey or Darjeeling. Which is nice if you like that sort of thing.

Five years ago decaff tea was awful dishwater. Now they are pretty much all decent. I have Tetley which I find indistinguishable from the caffeine version, and also makes a good strong traditional builders' cuppa as opposed to a poncey trendy blend.

Found some excellent decaf tea. Go to www.magtea.com. They have several excellent black and green decaf teas, all loose leaf teas.

I like Typhoo, Tetleys and Aldi decaff.

We have Sainsburys Red Label decaf at work and I have their Decaf earl grey at home, don't like the twinning a decaf earl grey but Sainsburys own is good. Yorkshire Decaf also good as is Clipper.
