2.6 yo sick yesterday but has managed some dry cereal and Heinz tom soup so far today. Looking for suggestions least likely to cause further upset!

TIA

Is he still being sick? If so, nothing but water.

Noodles, pre egg ones, with no sauce. Things like Jacobs cream crackers. Ie bland, limited fat or roughage. Keep up the liquids.

But then get him back on little meals of what he likes.

If he's not being sick anymore then start introducing small portions of bland food e.g. crackers, dry toast.

Once he's keeping that down well and feeling hungry give him small portions of wholesome foods. Chicken soup, soft boiled egg with dry toast, slices of fresh apple. Avoid anything too fatty and go for small meals often rather than bigger meals. I hope he is better soon.

Gp suggested plain boiled rice or stewed apple when dd had a bug. Apparently the apple is binding

rice krispies, but only a tablespoon at a time.

Roast chicken and boiled spuds is what my mum always gave me the day after being sick. And dry toast as a snack.

Hope he feels better soon!

Most people suggest the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Apple, Toast. Basically things that are bland and binding. The apples are better cooked down :). I hope you son soon feels better.

Thanks all - he ended up scoffing baked beans on toast (his absolute fave) and has been fine ever since.

The BRAT diet is out of date advice, current advice is to return to a normal diet as soon vomiting has stopped.

Sounds like a plan to do his favourite - the one thing my mum always did was try to get me whatever I fancied so I'd be keen on eating it. As an adult I still like listening to my 'urges' as I think its the bodies way of getting what it needs...
