Just pull the green bits off and eat them.

EarnestDullard · 04/07/2012 21:15

Rinse under tap, dry on kitchen roll, slice green leafy endy bit off with knife. Cut in half if big, leave whole if small.

IslaValargeone · 04/07/2012 21:18

Similar to Jenny, only I pick off the green bits and eat the strawberries.

MamaGeekChic · 04/07/2012 21:20

Hold on to green bit and bite. Ideally at room temperature.

sparkle12mar08 · 04/07/2012 21:20

I wash before hulling/slicing, and then dry briefly in a clean tea towel or kitchen paper. Gets rid of most of the seeds & fibres on the outside which I have an unfortunate digestive reaction to Blush. Washing after slicing makes them far too watery in my experience.

PorkyandBess · 04/07/2012 21:23

I wash them and slice end off. I don't add sugar.

mumnosbest · 04/07/2012 21:26

same as you but with sugar. however when strawberry picking its different. you have to check them as you pick. pick, hold green bit and bite then repeat Grin

notnowImreading · 04/07/2012 21:28

Take lid off punnet, put on table, put sugar bowl on table, take lid off pot of cream, put on table, pick up and dunk in both, eat. But I am a lazy skank.

FairyPenguin · 04/07/2012 21:38

Hull with a knife, then wash, then eat! Slice in half if too big for my little one, but that's it.

RokerFace · 04/07/2012 21:42

I was always told that strawberries aborb flavour so washing them will just make them taste of water - the thing to do was damp a clean tea towel and pat the strawberries to get any residue / fibres...

RokerFace · 04/07/2012 21:43

... to get any residue / fibres off.

AnnaMosity · 04/07/2012 21:45

Ah. I don't dry so that the sugar goes all
Syrupy

Hull
Rinse in colander (give them a little rub to get any gritty bits off)
Allow to drain
Unless v ripe, cut up and sprinkle a very little caster sugar over them about 15 mins before serving

Can't stand overripe strawberries, so once they have passed their prime, or any leftovers, I make a quick batch of 'fresh' jam to have in the fridge and on pancakes/waffles/scones etc.

multipoodles · 05/07/2012 17:55

Best strawberries I ever ate where on my uncles farm, hot sunny day and picked them straight of the plants and eat them without washing :)

Oblomov · 05/07/2012 18:00

Out of container, Slice off green bit with sharp knife. Put in bowl. No washing.

TimeWasting · 06/07/2012 15:04

Pull green bits off, rinse in colander, transfer to bowl, eat.
I've been pouring cream over, but guts inform me I'm still intolerant. Sad

GrimmaTheNome · 06/07/2012 15:11

wash in sieve, shake off water, hull by pulling or a thumbnail if it's resistant. Quarter or slice if large. Eat, usually with yogurt (greek or onken set) -almonds added to that is my breakfast at the mo (sometimes and/or blueberries). Delicious and healthy.

Hulababy · 06/07/2012 15:15

Rinse and pull green bits off.
Sometimes slice them, sometimes leave whole.
Sometimes sprinkle with pink or red food glitter.
Never add sugar.

MsKayGee · 06/07/2012 19:14

Punnet of strawberries, wash, pat dry, hull.

Cover in 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar and4 tablespoons of caster sugar. Leave for a few hours, then serve with a good dollop of cream.

MsKayGee · 06/07/2012 19:19

Ha just noticed you said no poncing around with balsamic... but it is good Grin

BertieBotts · 06/07/2012 19:23

I just eat them Grin

But if putting in a bowl then remove green parts, stick in bowl, halve or quarter big ones. Sprinkle with sugar and pour over cream.

msbuggywinkle · 07/07/2012 10:18

Insert hand into box. Hold strawberry by leave. Eat. Throw hulls to chickens.

Tis best accomplished while standing in the kitchen so the locusts children don't get there first.

fallenangle · 07/07/2012 10:33

Cut off bits slugs have got - this year there is hardly any strawberry after that - wipe with damp kitchen roll- eat -or serve with vanilla ice cream or dip in nutella. I never put actual sugar on. Shop bought ones I sometimes put lemon juice on if they don't have much flavour. make shortcake and pile up with whipped cream!
