Hi, i'm in the midle of baking a cake, i want to pipe butter cream roses all over it and i want them red, every time i make red butter cream it turns out pink or neon pink, do i just keep adding more colouring? I am using the paste colours from Asda (sadly i don't have red sugar flair colour, i know they are probably better). Any tips?

I would just add more colour. The more food colouring the deeper the colour surely? You need a proper red though, like the cochineal red.

The only red colouring I have found that actually turns things red rather than pink, and that is available in the supermarket rather than a specialist paste colouring, is by the silver spoon brand. this one

Unfortunately your only other option is to keep adding more and more colouring.

I have put a load of food colouring paste into some milk (tiny amount of milk) am hoping it will go a deeper red

If you have the time, leave it overnight and the colour will deepen. But if its still pink, you will need more colour in it. Its one of the hardest to make

Thank you, i think i will have to add some more colour, its quite a bright red (would rather it was a deep red) Sad.
