Lamb chops - best way to cook?

Hulababy · 26/02/2006 18:29

I have some lamb chops for DH and DD's dinner tomorrow night.

I have never cooked them before. So, anyone have any good ways to cook them, that isn't too faffy and not spicy (DD doesn't like spicy although Dh does)?

Thank you

You could just put mint sauce on the top and grill them.

Twiglett · 26/02/2006 18:31

season and grill would be my vote

colditz · 26/02/2006 18:31

second Nbg

serve with minted peas and new potatoes.

Enid · 26/02/2006 18:31

you have never cooked lamb chops ?

I grill them plainly on a high heat so that the fat goes golden but they are still pink in the middle

then serve with mustard mash and peas yum

Oooh mustard mash.

Yumm.

lucy5 · 26/02/2006 18:34

this sounds yuk but its yum, mix up some jam, i use strawberry and whole grain mustard and spread on top of chops and grill. it's lovely.

Enid - I don't eat meat so don't always think to buy something I haven't tried cooking before. DH hasn't ever really mentined having lamb. But DD had lamb at PILs last week and loved it -s o thought I'd get some.

Thanks for the suggestions

DH is fancying the mustard mash, but doesn't like mint sauce apparantly. DD can't have tomatoes as they make her face all red and blotchy.

So, possibly just a simple grill then - sounds nicce and easy!

Anyone done them on a George grill? How long?

And is lamb served well cooked or a bit pink?

Doesn't like mint sauce!!!!

Noooooo, it's a crime not to have mint sauce with lamb!

Ah well. Not sure on cooking time, not too long. It depends if you like them cooked through or pink like Enid suggested.

Hulababy · 26/02/2006 18:43

LOL! I know, but Dh is sometimes a bit odd!

I'll have to do the trail and error thing for how long. Dh can get it as its comes and not complain, or he can do it himself

If I'm coking something like chops I normally pick on one and slice it down the middle to check if it's done.

foxinsocks · 26/02/2006 18:52

sprinkle some rosemary on before cooking

Enid · 27/02/2006 09:25

did you do them?

(a bit pink btw not well cooked)

Hulababy · 27/02/2006 09:28

dh said last night his favourite is pink lamb chops, plainly grilled with mustard mash and garlic and parsley peas (fry a bit of garlic very gently in butter then add lots of chopped parsley and toss with cooked peas). Smile

Hulababy · 27/02/2006 09:31

Right Enid - I will try and all that tonight and report back! Just have to decide what I am going to have with the mash and peas now.

I love just the mash and peas!

sometimes I grill a couple of tomatoes to have with it too.

Hulababy · 27/02/2006 09:38

The tomatoes sound good for me and DH too. Might just go for veggie sausages myself now, as I just love the idea of the mash and peas :)

I'll report back with the verict afterwards. Thanks :)

I forgot to report back!

The lamb chops went down very well. DH and me both loved the mash and peas, done as Enid described. So thank you Enid :)
