What do you eat with Stir Fry?

Not being the worlds greatest cook I bought a stir fry in Morrisons today and cut some chicken into strips to put with it.

Anyway it was shared between myself, DP and DD and it just wasn't filling enough.

The frying pan was totally full - I think I may need a bigger frying pan.

What else would you cook with it as the bit we had we really enjoyed.

Thanks in advance.

we have noodles with ours.

Noodles.

Was the stirfry just chicken and veg? I always have noodles or rice with mine.

bundle · 25/02/2006 18:03

i usually put noodles in the stir fry (you can get ready cooked ones) and also have rice on the side to fill us up (we are Such Gut Buckets!)

Masses of rice or noodles and lots of prawn crackers! Yummy!

crazydazy · 25/02/2006 18:06

Is it best to cook in a wok - sorry but I am totally useless.

Thanks for the noodles idea, we love those!!

Rice & peas mixec together, as well as adding noodles to stir fry. Yum!

bundle · 25/02/2006 18:14

oh and might do 2 different dishes - one with chicken, mushrooms, sweetcorn etc and a sweet & sour sauce, and another with eg pak choi with soy/ginger.

We've just bought a Tefal wok, and it makes a lot of difference to the ease of cooking! We usually have pre-cooked (cos we're lazy!) noodles with ours.

We always buy a ready made sauce sachet to add to it. Sometimes we add cashew nuts as well. Great with chicken or strips of beef.

jellyjelly · 25/02/2006 21:02

You can make a really yummy stirfry with garlic, ginger, oyster sauce or soy sauce, rice wine and red chili/green, mix it all together. you could add honey and that would be great as well. Throw in whatever veg/meat you want and add it all in and serve with whatever you like

MerlinsBeard · 25/02/2006 21:07

we had a yummy stir fry the other day, red and green pepper, onion, garlic, (supposed to add ginger but had none), water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, beansprouts, left over beef from roast, noodles, carrot, soy sauce

List is endless of the things u can add, just chuck in whatever u feel like

fob · 25/02/2006 21:16

normally some noodles with onions and beansprouts added.

you could also buy some spring rolls for on the side.

yum yum

The straight to Wok Noodles are quite good and quick.

Does the Wok match your bin though?

crazydazy · 26/02/2006 20:47

Same colour Nbg but am afraid to say its not Brabantia.

[whispers to Nbg] It only cost £3.99 in The Range

Its non-stick so am hoping it lives up to its name.

Haven't even got matching Brabantia Tea/Coffee/Sugar canisters - ooooh the shame!!! Have seen some but DP won't buy me any saying that the ones we have are fine for the time being.

Oooh Brabantia are on my name and shame list. Grrrr.

Chuffing chuffers they are!

Anyway, your Wok.
I've never heard of the Range. Is there one in the city centre?

tuppenceworth · 26/02/2006 20:56

There are some rather tasty sauces you can get to go with stir fry. Schwartz do a really nice range and you can put in whatever you want. The chorizo chicken and Jamaican chicken ones are very nice, though I used tofu instead of meat as I'm veggie.

I like Tescos stir fry vegetables, though I forget which pack it is, but it has all the veggies I like - beansprouts, red, yellow and green peppers, carrots, pak choi and mangetout and I like adding noodles to it. Try it with rice and try adding a bit of soy sauce or a vegetable stock cube when you cook the rice.

Nope its a new warehouse type thingy at Hunslet, Leeds, a bit far for you Nbg - its household heaven though. I am in there at least once a week.

DS loves running around it too and there's plenty of toys on sale too.

Did you not have much luck with sorting out your bin then?
