Help me! Cake...

I had intentions of making a chocolate and cherry cake today. But now I'm not sure how to go about it.

I don't want any cream in it. I have.... Black cherries (frozen) black cherry pie filling. All the stuff for cake and buttercream.

I was thinking about doing a cherry filling and chocolate butter cream on the top, witch a chocolate cake. Will that work? Or do I need to have a rethink? Any suggestions are more then welcome!

That sound yummy!! You could put a little of the chocolate buttercream in the middle to hold the cherries in place too. Is it a special occasion? x

I'd go with a chocolate victoria sandwich and put butter cream in the middle with the cherries

or a chocolate swiss roll with cherries and ganache to fill

Was making it for just me to scoff alone fathers day dolally Wink do you think the cherry pie filling will be ok in the middle? It's very gloppy isn't it? Sould I try and remove some gloop?

I should really thing these things through before I start shoving things in my basket in sainsburys Grin

Yes, ganache! See I so want ganache now but we have no chocolate and I need to start baking in a min before DP gets home, so I can hide it before tomorrow. So can't run to the shop. Booooo

NOW..you are in trouble....I just remembered I have cherries in the fridge.

Chocolate and cherries rock!

and yes if you can pick the cherries out of the gloop it might make it easier to eat.

The cherries should be ok, especially if you use the buttercream as a yummy 'buffer' to stop them soaking the sponge too much!! x

i did that with cream and rasperries for a choc sandwich a while back!

it was choc sponge, a smear of rasp jam, fresh whipped cream, rasperries, fresh whipped cream, jam and choc sponge

I like my cakes to be symmetrical....it grieves me to see a cake, jam, icing, cake combo! :D

Oh God that sounds good cats mamma.

Ok cakes in the oven. Butter cream is made. He's due home in just over an hour

When the DD makes brownies I always convince her to put cherries in them. Yuuuuuum
