Nespresso.... do you have one?

I really want NEED good coffee...
With 3 kids under 3.5 it is mission impossible to go to Costa/other coffee shops to get a latte

So, Nespresso seems to be the next best thing, fuss-free, easy and quick.

Does anyone has the lattissima? I dont know whether i should get this one or another model with the detached aero-milk?

Pros for lattissima

  • like the fact i can press a button and get what i want
  • seemsto be easier to clean than the aeroccino (just press a button)
  • can do just hot water (bye, bye kettle)

Cons
it seems a bit bulky
the water jug is underneath the machine? how easy is it to spill the water (thinking of DP's two left hands)

Pros for city or pixie model

  • smaller, nicer looking
  • removale water jug seems easir to handle

Cons
more faff to make a good cappuccino or latte than with the lattissima?
aeroccino more difficult to clean? or can a quick run under the tap water will be enough?

DP likes espresso and macchiato
I like lattes
we both like cappuccinos

any advice?

thank you!!!

I have a regular Nespresso machine. My friend has a Lattissima Citiz, and I would definitely get one. A quick rinse does the trick I would say, if you did it straight away, but you'd need to wash it properly sometimes!

I've just bought a latissima plus and I'm not entirely delighted tbh and may still send it back.

Some of the problems may be my fault as I'm getting used to it but I've found:

the coffee doesn't get hot enough.
sometimes watery
too much or too little froth - no in between
I haven't liked the flavour of the coffees I've tried so far.
the pod mechanism is a bit stiff so I keep inserting them wrongly - probably my fault though.

I haven't tried just the hot water yet, but judging by the coffee temperature I won't be chucking my kettle just yet.

the water bit is easy to fill, so that's not a problem.

I'm undecided really. It's a lot of money for a machine that is just OK. actually, maybe I should pop to selfridges and get the nespresso ladies to talk me through it properly!

I've got the pixie with an aerocino and have enjoyed every cup. It's great Grin

I've even converted my instant loving DH!

We have a small kitchen so I wanted great coffee without taking up all the worktop. I would highly recommend it Smile

I've got one of the small Krups ones with separate aeroccino. Coffee is very good, nice and rich, much more depth than you get from a cafetiere. I like being able to have a whole variety of them in stock as DH likes stronger varieties than me and I have decaff as well. It's very easy and quick to use. The aeroccino needs a bit of a wipe most times, not just a rinse, but it only takes seconds.

We also needed something to take up minimum space on the worktop, so it's great.

Thanks everyone Smile
I went for a citiz + aeroccino and I just love it! I've already ordered new coffee pods!
So easy, so good!!
I didn't go for the lattissima, I went to selfridhes to the nespresso bar and asked to be shown h9w it worked and I just found it a bit bulky...
Can't stop making some coffee now!!!

Hambles - I went to selfridges and the nespresso lady I talked to was the most unhelpful sales person ever! Be warned

I just got a Tassimo - it makes lattes, cappuccinos, hot choc and tea as well as normal black coffee- and you can buy the pods in the supermarket :)
And my OH came home from work last week with a pack of Costa Cappuccino pods that go in it - taste just like the real thing . Definitely the best pressie I've ever got

whats4teamum · 21/06/2012 08:22

I found the aeroccino a nightmare to clean. Overtime burnt milk accumulates over the element and impossible to get to to clean. I warm milk in microwave and whisk with a little electric whisk.
I would go for a pixie if my current model broke down. I went 20 years without coffee prior to purchasing nespresso for DH. I couldn't resist the aroma of the coffee.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/06/2012 21:21

We've never had that problem, the aeroccino has been used at least once a day for the last two years and the surface is as good as new.

whats4teamum · 21/06/2012 23:00

Think ours is about 4 years old and we have friends who had exactly the same problem. They may have solved the problem on later models though.
