Chicken nuggets & fish fingers

I have been making my own chicken nuggets & fish fingers for some time now. For the past month & for the next 4 months we are having an extension built, which yes is v exciting, but I don't have a kitchen, just a corner with some worktop, microwave, 2 x camping rings & that's it. So homemade delights are out the door for a bit. So in the meantime where do I get the best quality chicken nuggets & fish fingers from?

Don't see why you can't pepare and cook homemade nuggets and fishfingers with what you have available?

Stealth boast much?

Just totally going out on a limb but would your children come to any actual harm if they weren't able to comsume chicken nuggets or fish fingers for a few months? Plenty of nice, healthy things you can make in the microwave or in a saucepan. Could you buy/borrow a slow cooker too?

TheHouseofMirth · 13/06/2012 22:26

Yes there is a myriad of other food out there but uif that's all your children will eat then surely it's no easier to cook ready-made ones than homemade? Am Confused

Is that all they eat? If not, you could make them anything that doesnt require an oven! Pasta dishes, soup, beans on toast ... the list is endless.

You could make chicken nuggets without having an oven. Shallow fry them in some butter. I do them all the time. Ditto fishfingers. That said, I think Waitrose do some really nice breaded fish bites. Not sure how super douper healthy they are though.

When we lost our kitchen I made sure the freezer was stocked up with things like cottage pie, casseroles, curries. Even stocked up in the neighbours spare freezers. We only had to resort to eating out once a week.

We also borrowed a slow cooker. Couldn't use it in the week with builders as the electric was usually off but on a weekend we made big batches of food and ate very well. Soups were good.

We also discovered mircrowave chips. Urrghhhh you may all shriek, but my kids thought they were brill and by that point of the 6 month build I couldn't careless what they were eating.
